What we offer
Kvarnbacka has, since its founding over 30 years ago, been shaped by a love for the Icelandic horse and a passion for sharing their power and charm with the world. Our mission and vision are therefore clear:
”To deliver professional, safe, and unique riding experiences on happy, healthy Icelandic horses—offering not just trail rides, but memories for a lifetime. Every horse in our herd is handpicked by us, and we are the go-to destination for those seeking truly exceptional horses. Through our work, we bring the magic of Icelandic horses to the world!”
With us, you’ll breathe horses from morning till evening, as well as have the chance to create lifelong memories for our guests. But you’ll also become an important part of our farm community, because we believe in the feeling of family and always strive to offer support and freedom for your own ideas and initiatives. The goal is for our passion, energy, and joy to leave a lasting impression on our customers, and we can only achieve that by truly working together.

Tell us about you
Email us your CV and a cover letter where you tell us more about yourself and your relevant experience.

Interview
If we believe you could be a good fit for us, we will schedule a meeting to get to know each other better. If everything feels right after that, we will request a copy of your criminal record.

Boot camp
During a weekend in the spring, all selected applicants are invited to the farm to work alongside us. You will get to see what the job entails, learn more about us, and together we will ensure that we are truly a great match for each other.

Selection & contract
After the boot camp, we make a final selection, and everyone who participated over the weekend will receive a response via email or phone. Employment contracts are signed, and the final details are confirmed.
What we are looking for
To thrive at Kvarnbacka, you need strong pedagogical and social skills, solid leadership qualities, and a passion for teaching and helping both children and adults at all levels. You are responsible and capable of working independently while also being a great team player. A deep interest in Icelandic horses is a given, and you always put both the horse and the guest first. Our goal is to exceed every customer’s expectations and to always have healthy, happy horses of high quality!
Summer staff
Summer is our peak season, and we need reinforcements in the form of both trail ride and camp leaders. We are looking for a team of people over 18 with a driver’s license, but there is also room for a few younger summer workers. The job includes everything from kitchen and stable duties to playing with camp children, accompanying trail rides, and taking care of the farm animals. Accommodation is provided in shared spaces near the farm, along with meals during working hours. The work schedule includes day, evening, night shifts (sleeping with camp children), and weekend work.
Year-round staff
To be a good fit for our year-round team, you need to be at least 18 years old and see this as a horse-centered lifestyle rather than just a job. The role includes everything from stable and farm work to training horses, leading trail rides, and creating content for social media. We all help out with everything, consider ourselves more of a family than colleagues, and always support each other. In return, you get to fill your life with horses and riding, with plenty of freedom to bring your own ideas and initiatives to life. Accommodation is available in a cabin near the farm, featuring a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room.
